Learning at Kallista Primary

Our school’s primary learning focus is, of course, teaching the foundations of English and Mathematics.  Our full curriculum provides opportunity to explore the Humanities, Sciences, Information Technology (including Robotics and Coding) and The Arts – including Visual, Performing Arts and Music. All students learn Japanese Language, Health and Physical Education. We place great value in our extensive curriculum and enriching learning opportunities.

Maths

Numeracy is the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that students need in order to use mathematics in a wide range of real-life situations.

Outstanding and extensive instrumental music program, incorporating a broad range of instruments including orchestral, piano, guitar, drums, and ukulele

Recorder, Japanese Drumming, and Marimba
The exciting Stephanie Alexander Kitchen-Garden Program, established for over ten years at KPS
Sport: Interschool Sport, Swimming Program, Cross Country and Athletics, and School Sport Victoria Pathways
The biennial musical production
Extension programs, such as Senior Maths Extension and Gateways
Camping Programs for Year 3 to Year 6
Lunchtime Clubs from Monday to Friday, respond to student interests and include Garden, Library, Chess,  Drumming, Friendship Clubs, Nature, and Coding/Robotics
Student leadership opportunities through Year One to Year Six in the Kallista Student Representative Council (KSRC)
Senior leadership in student led assemblies and sports days, Year 5 and Year 6 Captain and Monitor roles, Year 5 Buddies program, and student-led lunch games
Active citizenship and community service, encouraged through the Student Action initiatives taken by students in areas of their own interest, either individually, with their families, or through the KSRC
